2027 AP Exams run May 3-14

College Board has published the 2027 AP Exam schedule. Regular AP Exams will be administered in schools over two weeks: May 3-7 and May 10-14, 2027. Students do not choose an arbitrary day inside that window; each AP subject has a fixed session on the national schedule, and the school AP coordinator tells students when and where to report.

Do not assume Session 1 always means the same clock time everywhere

Beginning with the 2027 administration, College Board changed start times for some locations as part of exam-security controls across time zones. For most schools, including the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C., the standard times remain 8 a.m. local time for Session 1 and 12 p.m. local time for Session 2. Your AP coordinator should provide the exact reporting time that applies to your school.

What if two of your AP exams conflict?

College Board provides late testing for students who cannot take an exam during the regular window or who have two exams scheduled at the same time. Do not independently switch yourself to another day. Tell your AP coordinator as soon as you identify a conflict so the school can use the official late-testing process if appropriate.

Portfolio and performance-task deadlines matter too

Some AP courses have work due before the May exam. Computer Science Principles, Seminar, Research, and AP World Languages and Cultures have April 30, 2027 11:59 p.m. ET Digital Portfolio deadlines for the relevant components. AP Art and Design portfolios are due May 7 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Missing a portfolio deadline is a different issue from missing a written exam date, so students in those courses should track both.

What students should do now

  1. Find your subjects in the official 2027 schedule.
  2. Write down the date and session for every AP Exam you plan to take.
  3. Check for same-session conflicts immediately.
  4. Ask your school for its reporting location and exact arrival time.
  5. Confirm that your AP Classroom enrollment and exam order are correct.
  6. For portfolio courses, put the April 30 or May 7 submission deadline on a separate calendar.
  7. Use the next months for subject-specific preparation rather than memorizing the calendar.

How registration works

Students normally work through their school and AP coordinator rather than registering for an AP Exam in the same way they register for the SAT. The school submits exam orders in AP Registration and Ordering. The important 2026 ordering milestones are October 2 as the preferred deadline and November 13 at 11:59 p.m. ET as the final ordering deadline for full-year and fall-course orders and exam-only sections. See the 2027 AP ordering-deadline guide for the exact workflow.

Use the schedule as a planning tool

The most useful reason to know an exam date months early is to build a backward study plan. Count the school weeks between now and the test, reserve the final weeks for timed mixed practice, and place major content review earlier. If you are taking several AP Exams, stagger full-length practice so you do not schedule every mock exam in the same weekend.

For a clean all-subject table, see the 2027 AP subject-by-subject schedule. For conflicts or unavoidable absences, use the 2027 AP late-testing guide.
