Early Action: Official Source Tracker

This original U.S. admission resource organizes official-source verification, planning, documents, cost questions, and next actions. Requirements differ by institution, program, applicant type, residency, citizenship or immigration context, year, and deadline.

Start with the institution

Record the exact college, campus, program, term, applicant category, official page, date checked, and responsible office. A platform checklist or general article does not override an institution's current instructions.

Planning workflow

  1. Identify the controlling application and financial-aid pages.
  2. Create a dated checklist for forms, transcripts, recommendations, tests, portfolio or audition, aid, and deposits.
  3. Assign responsibility for every document and confirm how receipt is shown.
  4. Build a buffer for school offices, translation, testing, payment, and technical issues.
  5. Recheck requirements before submission and save confirmation.

Update verification

When a date, policy, or document appears to change, compare the current official page with a dated notice or archived copy, confirm who is affected, and contact the responsible office if the language is unclear. Do not spread screenshots without context.

Cost and aid boundary

Verify application charges, waivers, deposits, tuition and fees, net-price estimates, aid forms, scholarship terms, refund rules, and borrowing with official sources. Never pay through a link received from an unverified message.

Privacy and integrity

Do not publish student IDs, account credentials, financial information, immigration documents, disability records, recommendation letters, or decision notices. Essays and portfolios must follow authorship and tool-use rules; do not buy or copy another applicant's work.

Decision record

Save the submitted version, confirmation, receipt status, official communication, aid offer, conditions, deposit deadline, and unresolved questions. Use a comparison matrix that separates verified facts from preferences and estimates.
