This eight-week Praxis Core plan is designed for candidates preparing for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Praxis Core includes Reading (5713), Writing (5723), and Mathematics (5733). Current ETS materials list 85 minutes and 56 questions for Reading, 100 minutes with 40 selected-response questions plus two essays for Writing, and 90 minutes with 56 questions for Mathematics. State requirements and accepted tests vary, so candidates should confirm their jurisdiction before registering. Begin by checking which Core tests your state, licensing agency, or preparation program actually requires. Then take a diagnostic in each required area and record misses by skill rather than only by total score.

Weeks 1–2: establish foundations

For Reading, practice identifying main ideas, supporting evidence, author purpose, structure, and relationships among ideas. For Writing, review standard written English, revision in context, research skills, and short timed planning for both essay types. For Mathematics, rebuild number and quantity, algebra, geometry, data interpretation, statistics, probability, ratios, percentages, and quantitative reasoning. Work untimed until the process is reliable, then add short timed sets.

Weeks 3–5: targeted cycles

Use a repeatable cycle: review one concept, solve several focused questions, explain the reasoning in your own words, and retest the skill later without notes. Reading errors should be tied to evidence in the passage. Writing errors should be classified as grammar, organization, style, research, or essay development. Mathematics errors should be separated into concept gaps, setup errors, arithmetic mistakes, and pacing problems.

Weeks 6–7: mixed timed work

Shift to mixed practice so you must identify the skill before selecting a method. Use realistic pacing checkpoints and avoid spending unlimited time on one item. For Writing, include complete timed essays and revise your planning process after each attempt. Review correct answers reached by guessing, because a lucky response does not yet show dependable mastery.

Week 8: readiness

Complete realistic timed blocks using current ETS guidance. Revisit repeated weaknesses, confirm test-day identification and delivery rules, and stop adding large amounts of new material in the final days. The goal is stable execution: recognize the task, choose a defensible method, manage time, and verify your answer when possible.
