What changed in the 2026-27 interface

LSAC finalized the new interface before the 2026-27 cycle and updated official LawHub PrepTests to use it. The question bar now shows all questions in a section, Reading Comprehension question groups have separators, and highlighting and underlining work across the stimulus, question stem and answer choices.

Highlighting works differently

The new interface supports multiple highlight colors and corresponding underline styles. Because this tool behaves differently from the previous platform, a student who highlights heavily should practice the exact interaction. Do not wait until the scored test to learn where the controls are or how long a highlight action takes.

Answer selection and elimination require attention

LSAC says the new platform cannot provide the old radio-button style behavior that let users switch directly between selecting and eliminating an answer with one click. Moving between answer selection and elimination can require an extra click. That sounds minor, but repeated hundreds of times it can affect rhythm if you are not familiar with it.

The question bar is more useful now

The redesigned question bar displays all questions in the section rather than only a smaller subset at once. Flagged items are visible in the bar, which can make end-of-section review easier. Reading Comprehension separators also help students see which questions belong to each passage.

How to practice without wasting prep time

1. Use official LawHub PrepTests in the current interface.
2. Practice answer selection, elimination, flagging and unflagging deliberately for one short session.
3. Test your highlighting method on Reading Comprehension and Logical Reasoning stimuli.
4. Practice moving between flagged questions near the end of a section.
5. Use the same font-size and visual preferences you expect to use on test day.
6. Once navigation feels automatic, return your attention to reasoning accuracy.

Do not over-engineer highlighting

Highlighting is useful only when it improves comprehension or review. If you spend several seconds marking every sentence, the tool becomes a timing cost. A better approach is to define a small number of uses: conclusion, contrast, viewpoint shift or key rule. Test whether each marking habit actually improves accuracy.

Interface practice for Reading Comprehension

Use passage separators in the question bar to understand the section layout. When practicing, notice whether you lose time reopening the passage, scrolling unnecessarily or over-highlighting. The goal is a stable workflow: read, identify structure, answer, flag only when there is a genuine reason to revisit.

Interface practice for Logical Reasoning

For Logical Reasoning, test whether answer elimination is helping or becoming extra clicking. Some students benefit from visually eliminating choices; others reason more efficiently by selecting the best answer without marking every rejected choice. Use timed official practice to decide.

What has not changed because of the UI

The LSAT still requires the same core reasoning preparation. A new button layout does not change how assumptions, flaws, inference, strengthen/weaken reasoning or reading structure work. Do not let interface anxiety replace substantive study.

A 20-minute interface rehearsal

Spend five minutes learning highlights and underlines, five minutes on the question bar and flags, five minutes practicing answer elimination, and five minutes on a timed mini-set. Repeat once or twice until the controls stop demanding conscious attention. After that, full-section practice should be about reasoning and pacing.
