What these notes cover

These GRE General Test notes are a compact review framework for the skills that should stay visible throughout preparation. They are not a replacement for the current official test outline. The current GRE General Test is computer delivered and uses two Verbal and two Quantitative sections plus one Analytical Writing task. Verbal and Quantitative performance is section-level adaptive.

Build an error log that teaches you something

For every meaningful miss, write four short entries: the tested skill, the exact reasoning error, the correct rule or method, and a future trigger that should remind you to use it. Separate knowledge gaps from misreads and timing mistakes. A page of specific corrections is more useful than a long list of raw scores because it tells you what to change.

Active-recall routine

Close the notes and reconstruct the rule, relationship, or reasoning step from memory. Then solve a fresh example. Mix older material into later sessions so that success requires retrieval rather than recognition. When an answer is correct for the wrong reason, count it as a review item; lucky guesses should not disappear from the error log.

Final review checklist

Use current official materials to confirm the test structure and policies, then prioritize weak areas that still produce repeated errors. Practice transitions between topics, make pacing decisions before test day, and stop using a resource if it trains a format or rule that no longer matches the current exam. These notes are designed to support disciplined review, not memorization of protected or recalled test questions.
