Start with a diagnostic

This eight-week GED Test plan uses a simple cycle: diagnose, learn, practice, review, and retest. Begin with current official material or a representative diagnostic, then record each miss by topic and cause. The GED consists of four separately scheduled subject tests. Current official timing and passing requirements should be checked on GED.com before scheduling.

Weeks 1–2: rebuild foundations

Use the diagnostic to rank weaknesses instead of studying every area equally. Focus first on Mathematical Reasoning and Reasoning Through Language Arts. Work untimed until the method is reliable, then add short timed sets. For every error, write the tested skill, what caused the miss, and the exact rule or reasoning step that would prevent the same mistake next time.

Weeks 3–5: targeted skill cycles

Rotate through Science evidence and data interpretation, Social Studies source analysis while continuing spaced review of earlier topics. Each cycle should include a short concept review, several focused questions, immediate explanation review, and a later retest without notes. Correct answers reached by guessing should remain in the review queue because the goal is dependable reasoning rather than a temporary score.

Weeks 6–7: mixed timed practice

Shift from isolated drills to mixed sets that require you to identify the task before selecting a method. Use pacing checkpoints and avoid spending unlimited time on one item. After each timed block, review both correct and incorrect responses and compare your reasoning with the expected method. Reattempt missed skills after a delay so improvement reflects learning rather than short-term memory.

Week 8: simulation and test readiness

Complete realistic timed practice using the current official structure and testing rules. Use the final days to repair repeated weaknesses, confirm registration and test-day logistics, and protect sleep. Do not chase a large volume of new material at the end. A stable process, clear pacing plan, and accurate error review are more useful than last-minute cramming.
