How to use this study plan
This eight-week ACT plan is built for students who want a repeatable system rather than random practice. Begin with an honest diagnostic, record each miss by skill and cause, and use that evidence to decide what deserves the next study block. The current enhanced ACT centers the core composite on English, Math, and Reading; Science and Writing are optional. Practice should match the version and options the student actually registers for.
Weeks 1–2: baseline and foundations
In week 1, complete a representative diagnostic under realistic timing and sort mistakes into content gaps, reasoning errors, pacing problems, and avoidable execution mistakes. In week 2, rebuild the most important foundations in English editing and rhetorical decisions and mathematical reasoning from foundational algebra through advanced high-school topics. Use short sets so that every answer can be reviewed immediately.
Weeks 3–5: targeted skill cycles
Rotate through reading comprehension and evidence, optional science data interpretation when the student plans to take Science. A useful cycle is learn one concept, solve a small untimed set, explain every answer, then repeat with a timed set. Keep an error log that records the tested skill, why the wrong choice looked attractive, the rule or reasoning that fixes the error, and one action for the next session.
Weeks 6–7: mixed timed practice
Move from isolated drills to mixed sets that force you to identify the task before choosing a method. Practice pacing checkpoints instead of rushing every item. After each timed block, spend at least as much attention on review as on the attempt itself. Redo missed questions later without looking at the answer so improvement reflects learning rather than memory.
Week 8: simulation and taper
Complete one or more realistic simulations using the current official format and testing rules, then use the final days for focused repair rather than learning large new topics. Confirm logistics with the official organization, protect sleep, and arrive with a clear pacing plan. The goal is not to predict an exact score; it is to make your process stable, measurable, and repeatable under time pressure.
