Social Science Research Methods: Original Mock Exam
Use these original questions to identify the relevant course domain, explain the decision, and practice responsible error correction. The questions are not copied, recalled, or predicted from a protected exam. Develops questions, theory, measurement, sampling, qualitative and quantitative designs, ethics, and inference. Course titles, local sequences, grading, safety rules, required tools, and assessment formats vary; align this resource with the current syllabus and instructor directions.
Learning outcomes
- Explain and apply research questions and theory, then connect it to measurement using course-appropriate evidence.
- Explain and apply measurement, then connect it to sampling using course-appropriate evidence.
- Explain and apply sampling, then connect it to experimental and observational design using course-appropriate evidence.
- Explain and apply experimental and observational design, then connect it to qualitative methods and ethics using course-appropriate evidence.
- Explain and apply qualitative methods and ethics, then connect it to research questions and theory using course-appropriate evidence.
Prerequisite readiness
statistics basics, writing, source evaluation, and human-subject research awareness Use a short ungraded check, repair the smallest missing skill, and immediately retest it in a course-level task.
Assessment design
The set samples all five domains: research questions and theory, measurement, sampling, experimental and observational design, qualitative methods and ethics. Complete it closed-note first, then review explanations and retry changed-condition versions.
Scoring and correction
Score one point per correct choice, but also require a spoken or written reason. A correct guess is not stable mastery. Log the first unsupported move and schedule a delayed recheck.
Timing
Use up to 30 minutes after untimed accuracy is stable.
Reliable method
state a focused question, define constructs, choose cases or sample, align method with claim, analyze transparently, and report limits Keep assumptions, intermediate reasoning, units, sources, tool use, and checks visible so another learner can follow the decision process.
Representative application
Design a mixed-method study of campus belonging and explain what each evidence type can and cannot support. Predict a reasonable result before working, compare the outcome with the prediction, and explain limitations or alternative interpretations.
Error recovery
Watch for choosing a method because it is familiar before defining the claim, population, construct, and ethical constraints. Mark the first unsupported move, classify the cause, correct the reasoning, and schedule a fresh mixed recheck after a delay.
Accessibility, integrity, and safety
Use approved accommodations and accessible formats. Follow course rules for collaboration, citation, calculators, software, generative tools, laboratories, clinical settings, field activity, privacy, copyright, and human or animal subjects. Never use Exams.fit to obtain protected questions or bypass assessment rules.
Evidence to save
When permitted, preserve a research proposal with question, theory, operationalization, sampling, method, analysis, ethics, and limitations with the prompt, first attempt, feedback, revision, verification, and reflection. Remove restricted assessment content and private or proprietary information.
