What the SAT measures

The SAT is a digital college admission assessment administered by College Board. The current test has two sections: Reading and Writing, and Math. College Board lists 54 Reading and Writing questions and 44 Math questions, with a total testing time of 2 hours and 14 minutes. Students take the assessment in the Bluebook testing application, so preparation should include both academic practice and familiarity with the official digital testing environment.

How the digital structure works

Each SAT section is divided into two modules. The first module contains a mixture of easier, medium, and harder questions. Performance in that first module influences the difficulty mix of the second module, which is why the test is described as adaptive. This does not mean a student should try to guess the route through the test. The useful strategy is simpler: work accurately, manage time, and answer each question based on the information provided. How to prepare efficiently

Start with an official full-length practice test to identify weak areas rather than studying every topic equally. Use the College Board question bank and official practice resources to work on specific skills, then return to timed modules to build pacing. Review errors by category: a missed concept, a misread question, an inefficient method, or a time-management problem. That error log is more useful than simply counting how many questions were completed.
